Signature Student Loans^®

Signature Student Loans are private or alternative funding for undergraduate, graduate or select graduate health professions. Since these loans are not federally funded, you should take full advantage of all other financial aid and funding before using private/alternative loans as a lending source. Unlike the Federal Stafford Loans, a credit check is required to obtain funding. Repayment is deferred until six months after you leave school.

To be eligible for a Signature Student Loan, you must meet all of the criteria listed below:

• Attending an approved four- or five-year college or university at least part time (graduate law schools, community colleges, trade schools and technical schools are not eligible)
• Of legal borrowing age in your permanent state of residence (18 years of age in most states)
• Pursuing an undergraduate, graduate or select graduate health profession
• Meet the credit requirements

If you have a parent or grandparent with a good credit history who will cosign on your loan, you could get a lower interest rate, saving you money. Cosigners are not required except if you are a:

• Foreign student
• Student with no credit or insufficient credit history
• U.S citizen attending a foreign school

A cosigner must meet the following criteria:

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Meet the credit requirements
• Provide CIS documentation (if applicable)
