You can choose from a variety of repayment options that best suit your needs:
Traditional Repayment
Your principal and interest payments are due monthly for the life of the loan.
Graduated Repayment
Your monthly payments are less at the start of the repayment period
then gradually increase at specified times during the life of the loan.
Income-based Repayment
Your payments are based on a certain percentage of your monthly income.
Available for Stafford, PLUS, SLS and SMART LOANS.
Extended Repayment
You can have repayment relief for a period of up to 25 years. Available on
eligible Stafford, PLUS and SMART LOANS/Federal Consolidation loans.
Serialization
You can request that Sallie Mae purchase your other loans from other financial
institutions so you only have to make one monthly payment. You will keep the
original terms and interest rate on the loan.
Consolidation
You can refinance all of your individual loans into one loan with Sallie Mae’s
SMART LOAN consolidation. Most often, your interest rate will be lower.
